MVIT College Team Wins Smart India Hackthon Title -2020
A Young and Dynamic team from Puducherry from the College of Manakula Vinayagar Institute of Technology, Puducherry has bagged the title in the Smart India Hackthon 2020 along with cash prizes of Rs.1Lakhs/-.
A National-level software contest organized by the Union Human Resources development Ministry in association with the All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE).
Every Year Smart India Hackthon is used to conduct since 2017. In the Month April 1-2. Due to COVID-19 this year SIH'2020 is said it will be held Virtual over Online.
Several other Teams From IIT, NIT, Top Tier colleges teams would participate in this event to showcase their skills and to give a solution for the Nation's Problem Digitally.
This Contest is Inaugurated by Shri. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India and associated with Various Government Organizations.
This is the 36 Hour Hackthon in which students try to solve the Problems given to solve Nation's Problem.
The Team ALPHA_TECH from Manakula Vinayagar Institute of Technology, a combination of Final-year and Third-year B.Tech(Information Technology) students group, submitted a solution and developed a service for the Problem statement given by Govt. of Madhya Pradesh.
Problem Solved In Short:
- To Help the Police Department to Identify the Criminals and easy detection in Crime Evidence and Crime Hotspot location in real time manner and faster crime detection.
Problem Solution In Short:
- This Team ALPHA_TECH developed a service using the Open-Source Machine Learning Libraries with the Power of Python to detect any unusual activity happening in any place and send notification to the Police Department.
- The Students demonstrate with the Help of the Laptop webcam from which the streaming would happen and in case if any unusual activity like a person taking a gun or a person is having a knife and fighting which is captured the cam and send an near real time notification to Police/Subscribers whose contact is given.

MVIT Associate professor (Information Technology) VijiyaKumar K is the mentor for this winning team. MVIT Principal Dr S.Malarkkan and Head of Department Information Technology Dr.P. SIVAKUMAR and Department Of Information Technology Faculty Members Congratulated the team members for their achievement.
Also the Team ALPHA_TECH thanked their Principal, HOD, Department Staffs for giving them an opportunity to showcase their skills and win a title for MVIT in SIH'2020.
